Screenshot of error message

Hello,

I am unable to create a new pair of public/private keys using Kleopatra Client.
I am receiving an error message as shown in the attachment.

I do not use any non-ascii characters in my name nor in my e-mail address.

Thanks for taking a look.

I have no idea what could cause this. My best guess is that your installation is broken although Kleopatra's self-test should have noticed this. It could also be a permission problem e.g. if you installed Kleopatra with elevated permissions.

Note that KDE doesn't provide a Windows version of Kleopatra. I suggest you contact the Gpg4win forum (https://gpg4win.org/community.html). There you'll find people who know much more about Gpg4win and using Kleopatra on Windows than here.

I'll set this to NEEDSINFO from downstream (i.e. Gpg4win). If the Gpg4win people can figure out what's going wrong then we might be able to fix it (if it's a bug).

Hello Ingo,

I finally figured it out. As you advised I tried uninstall and reinstall gpg4win. This step did not fix the issue.
The problem was, that the ~/.gnupg folder was missing and thus no keyring was found.

I readjusted the gpg4win configuration and now everything works as expected.

I appreciate you taking your time to help me.

Have a nice week.

Usually, this folder should be created automatically as %APPDATA%\gnupg. It would be interesting to know why this seems to have failed on your system. Anyway, great that you could solve your problem. I'll close the report as WORKSFORME for now.
