SUMMARY
As mentioned in the title.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Ensure "Show preview" is turned on
2. Click/hover on a .png file

OBSERVED RESULT
Preview is not shown

EXPECTED RESULT
Preview should be shown

Are you sure this is the portal file picker, or just the normal one for a non-portal-using app? Are both affected, or just one?

Im not too sure since im using an immutable os and almost all apps are flatpaks. all i can say is when i tested on firefox (flatpak) the window was called portal and the issue persisted. similarly on a non flatpak app like kwrite and kate, the issue still persists in their respective file pickers as well.

It sounds like your distro is missing support for certain image formats, then. I'd recommend bringing it up to them.
