Description muh2lintech 2024-10-19 22:50:57 UTC
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. I have two panels showing
2. I select a file in the left panel
3. I choose File>Copy to other panel

OBSERVED RESULT
It doesn't copy the file to the other panel. Instead it shows a window with a field that contains the full pathname of the file to be copied, and some buttons for doing various things.

EXPECTED RESULT
I expected that the file I selected would be copied to the other panel.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
I am running Linux Mint 22.
kinfo reported this:
Could not find module 'kcm_about-distro'. See kcmshell5 --list for the full list of modules.

Comment 1 Alex Bikadorov 2024-10-20 10:14:09 UTC
This is normal behavior: After executing the "Copy to other panel" action a dialog is shown. You can click on "OK" or press enter to copy the file(s).

Does this solve the issue?

Hi Alex, thank you for your reply. However, the issue is thus:

In the left panel, I have this directory:

/home/username/Documents/mydata

In the right panel, I have this directory:

/home/username/Documents/mydata/crapdir

In the left panel, I select the file:

crap.txt

Then, I choose File>Copy to other panel

The dialogue appears, but in the filename window, it says this:

/home/username/Documents/mydata/222 helpful computer info collected/crap.txt

which is entirely different than the directory in the right panel.

Hello Alex, here is the screenshot w the dialog visible.

You are confusing panels with tabs. The screenshot shows two tabs inside one panel. The other panel seems to be minimized either to the very left or right of the window. If you move the mouse over the window edge, you should be able to make the other panel visible again.
