But there is already an annotation filter in the sidebar? (In reply to Albert Astals Cid from comment #1) > But there is already an annotation filter in the sidebar? OK, I obviously wasn't clear enough, or am I missing something obvious??? Anyway, now I attached picture of Okular 24.08.1. There are two Highlight annotations each on different page. One is called "select yellow" and the other one is called "select green". There is no filter on sidebar, only a search field in which I could search for text in annotation(if any) or for the type of annotation, but not for the it's name e.g. "select green". Furthermore, lets say there is an empty rectangle annotation and another full rectangle annotation. When searched for, those cannot be distinguished from one another, nor from ellipse one, which doesn't bring Okular to it's full potential. The way I see it IMHO, it would be very beneficial if there is a drop-down checkbox filter which could mark only annotations in interest. The filter would contain all annotations(by name) created in "Quick annotation toolbar", as a superior method than a default "Annotation toolbar". The bug I've mentioned suggest visual presentation instead of plain same icon for each annotation, which would be visually nicer, but not as functional. Created attachment 175114 [details]

> One is called "select yellow" and the other one is called "select green". What? That's not the name of the annotation, that's the name of your annotation tool. Annotations have no name they have type and text. > There is no filter on sidebar, only a search field The search field filters the contents of the sidebar as you correctly describe. (In reply to Albert Astals Cid from comment #4) Ah you're right. I have obviously misspoken here. Sorry for creating all this confusion. From this point of view it seems like suggesting implementation of true filter widget was a stupid feature request. What I meant is ability to search for annotation tools by their name. And yes, in that case the search field will do just fine if annotation tool is carefully named by user. One more thing, I have found this ability by accident(to search for annotation by type not just for containing text) and I use Okular a lot. So perhaps its discoverability could be enhanced. The name of the annotation tool is not something we can use to filter because: *) There exist annotations created by other tools that are not Okular *) Even if an annotation is created by okular, you can change it later. I'm closing this because what you're asking is simply not possible beyond the filtering we already do based on the annotation tool |
