Thanks for the screen recording, but unfortunately it's somewhat difficult to see what's going on in there because 99% of the screen content is black! Can you try this in a new clean user account with no Plasma customizations and see if it happens there? If it does, would you mind taking another screen recording of it? If it doesn't happen, then it would be helpful if you could narrow down which exact customization in your normal user account causes it. Thanks! Created attachment 174718 [details]

Video includes 489952 and 487563 behaviour, but this is only about the drag'n'drop failure
(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #1) > Can you try this in a new clean user account with no Plasma customizations and see if it happens there? Hi Nate, thanks for looking at this. I've attached a new video with an unmodified new account. I'm still suffering the frame pacing bug and the VRR bug, so the video is very choppy, but hopefully the two videos together will give some clarity. One thing that's more obvious with this one, is the 'stuck' cursor after attempting the move. I suspect that's just 491100 though. Ignore the kwin crash, that only happens with spectacle with these new accounts and not with my usual account. I don't know what that's about and I have enough bugs on my plate that I'd prefer to ignore it for now if that's OK :) 5 bugs in one, I'm special! D: hahahaha Is the affected Task Manager by any chance configured to sort by something other than "Manually" in its settings window? If I use any of those settings, I can reproduce it. If I set it to "Manually" (which is the default setting), then I can re-arrange the tasks as expected. (In reply to Nate Graham from comment #4) > Is the affected Task Manager by any chance configured to sort by something > other than "Manually" in its settings window? Hi Nate Yep it's set to manual. I also tried changing it to something else and then back to manual, just to make sure. No dice. The behaviour I'm seeing isn't quite the same as those other settings - things like, the cursor being 'stuck' in the hand or the red circle/cross, and having to click once to stop the failing drag operation. Its behaviour is intermittent, but it's not the normal. This is basically effecting all of KDE, for eg I can't drag'n'drop text in Kate (but can eg in firefox) or drag files in dolphin, so I think it's something bigger. I've seen the app updates to 24.08.2 since logging this, no change there. Qt 6.8 is due any day here. ๐๐งน โ ๏ธ This bug has been in NEEDSINFO status with no change for at least 15 days. This definitely feels like a Qt issue. I would recommend talking with your distro about it, as it's also possible they've patched Qt in a way that made this happen. Thanks to your advice, Nate, it's fixed! There was a leftover remnant of libQt6eglWaylandClient6 patched from 491100, my package manager (zypper, but it was my package to blame, not a bug there) thought it was the same, I force-reinstalled the unpatched package and it's come good, obviously it was not the same. Without your advice, I'd never have thought to reinstall the thing I already reinstalled twice. Thanks Nate!!! Three weeks of no drag'n'drop, wow SUCH a *relief*! Fantastic! |
