It would be very nice to have the KDEConnect SMS app show notification badges when new text messages are received.

I have an Android phone and currently use Google Messages for Web in Firefox with the tab badge extension. There are currently no other viable solutions for using text messaging on my desktop PC, and using Google Messages on my Android (GrapheneOS) phone is really the only thing preventing me from deleting my Google account (which is desirable for hopefully obvious reasons). If we can get notification badges on the KDEConnect SMS icon in the taskbar, I can ditch Google Messages and use GrapheneOS's default messaging app on the phone with KDEConnect SMS on the desktop.

I don't know much about KDE Plasma development, or KDEConnect development specifically, so I may be wrong, but it seems like a somewhat trivial feature to add that could potentially benefit more people than me. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would want this feature. I noticed that the option for "show notification badge" for KDEConnect SMS is grayed out, so maybe this was already attempted and there is a technical reason that it wasn't implemented? Or maybe it's already planned?
