There are thousands of wallpapers that get added to each app search in discovery.
Let's say I want to find KDE intinerary project I was reading about on internet.
I put "intin" as a search and instead I get hundreds of random wallpapers from store.kde.org/

I understand the concept of adding the store items to the results but I consider real programs should be on top (this is not the case now where with 'match' criteria the apps are on the bottom of all the wallpapers) or at least there should be a filter for search results.

If I search for "itin" while on the home page, I get "KDE Itinerary" as the top entry. What page are you viewing when you initiate the search?

Can reproduce the issue that when searching for "inti" I get a ton of wallpapers, and app entries are at the bottom.

fixed in 6.2.5 the apps come before wallpapers

I can't reproduce this. When I searched for 'phone', just for a few seconds I saw apps at the top, but a few seconds later, the wallpapers started to fill the top of the list. Perhaps it was just 'taking too long' for you and you didn't see that happen?

you are right, in my test case 'itin' search string it was working fine but for phone it stillf ails

I re-tested this on git-master and am able to reproduce

Searching for "itin" - I see KDE Itinerary as the first result, and apps after it. After a moment, all except "KDE Itinerary" are pushed down the list by wallpapers.
"phone" - At first, I see the applications at the top of the list. After a moment, all except "Polyphone" are pushed down the list by wallpapers.

The fix was merged into 6.4.0. Feel free to reopen this bug report if the bug persists on your system after it's updated to that version. Thanks!
