(In reply to etfaker from comment #0) > ... While file indexing is enabled, Dolphin will freeze for 5-10 seconds when started ... I've noticed Dolphin and Gwenview freeze occasionally, for 30 sec . I've not correlated it to indexing but to having "something" on the clipboard. While stuck, try opening the clipboard widget, clear clipboard history and confirm. In my instance this immediately unblocked Dolphin. Ref: Bug 411196. It was not related to KDE Connect and I still meet it although not as much as before. I cleared my clipboard + history, opened Dolphin -> Freeze (In reply to etfaker from comment #2) > ... Thanks for the idea but it didn't help ... Are you using tags? or maybe have some saved searches? Anything that Dolphin might want to refresh when it starts? Also check whether Baloo is actively indexing something (before you open Dolphin), you can watch by running "balooctl monitor" (or perhaps "balooctl6 monitor". Anything that Dolphin > might want to refresh when it starts? > > Also check whether Baloo is actively indexing something (before you open > Dolphin), you can watch by running "balooctl monitor" (or perhaps "balooctl6 > monitor". No tags but I found the cause! Settings (Hamburger Menu) -> Show Panels -> Information I just disabled that and it seems to have fixed the issue. Now the question is, why is the information panel causing this huge lag when opening Dolphin? Yes, it is the info panel. With dolphin already opened and enabling that info panel will cause the same lag/freeze as soon as the info panel is activated. (In reply to etfaker from comment #5) > Yes, it is the info panel ... ... Seemingly together with something else I've tried various combinations of Baloo enabled, disabled, enabled-but-killed and haven't stumbled upon the delay. I don't know enough about how Dolphin queries Baloo, if there is anything special. If it just opened the index read-only, I don't think there should be a delay... *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 400704 *** |
