On Ubuntu 22.04 (Gnome)
Snap Package 24.05.2 (classic or edge) :
Application icon is missing ("Gear" Icon in Application list).
1 - Open Kate
2 - Open Session
3- Click on Open File button (in top bar)
=> Crash

Test new 24.08.1 no more crash on open file 
but still no icon in Yaru theme

I've found this link before, but when I set dark theme with stadard "Unbuntu" Gnome setting. The icon theme is Yaru-sage (checked from Gnome Tweak) and there is no snap for Yaru-sage icone theme, and in gtk-common-themes this icone for Kate is not embeded

We can't embed every icon theme available on the internet, that would make the snap much to big. Sorry
