Description GO 2024-08-17 17:50:43 UTC
This feature was present, especially in Kdenlive 0.9.1. It has since disappeared. Would it be possible to put it back in the next versions of Kdenlive, please?
It is very useful for de-rushing during editing.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Kdenlive and create a new project
2. Select "add clip" and open the preview panel (F11) in the clip finder
3. Select a video file or a sound file

OBSERVED RESULT
If a video clip is selected, the preview panel display one image of the clip but does not play it.
If a sound clip (mp3, Wav,...) is selected, the preview panel display some thing like a traffic sign such as "no parking" and plays no sound.
That's all.

EXPECTED RESULT
The preview panel plays the video clip as well as the sound clip.

EXPECTED SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
All platforms supported by Kdenlive today.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Comment 1 GO 2024-08-25 16:16:53 UTC
It seems useful to me to add this clarification: This "preplay" feature should not replace the "preview" feature, but should be added to it, so as not to penalize the user.
Kdenlive's media browser should therefore offer 3 modes:
- no preview nor pre-playing,
- preview
- preplay.
More appropriate terms may be to be sought.
