SUMMARY


STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Open new project.
Insert a record track.
Start recording.

OBSERVED RESULT
After the 3 second count down.  A message saying:  "cannot open file /.../capture1.wav"
Audio recording fails.

This is only happening when I try to use an external microphone.  I'm on a laptop.  If I use the laptop microphone, the recording will work.  But if I use an external mic (I've used two and also tested that they work with audacity).  The problem will happen.

I have the same issue when recording from external mic. Getting the "Audio device has invalid preferred format" error and "cannot open file ...". Looking at the report it might be ffmpeg issue? How can I test that?

Can confirm this bug with kdenlive 24.08.1 for both flatpak and AppImage version on Ubuntu 24.04. Trying to record audio track using either build-in microphone or USB microphone results after coutdown in a pop-up: "Can not open capture0000.wav". This file is created in the project directory but remains 0 Bytes. A second click on the record button results in kdenlive crashing after a few seconds.

Audio recording should be fixed. Please try with the current Kdenlive AppImage 24.12: https://kdenlive.org/en/download/
