SUMMARY
In the previous version of Spectacle, the main window would open after taking a screenshot. In the current release version, a notification is displayed with an Annotate button. The annotate button takes the user to the main window, where the image can be edited. Opening in the main window was the default behavior.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Take a screenshot.

OBSERVED RESULT
1. Notification is displayed.
2. Main window does not open.

EXPECTED RESULT
1. Captured image opens in main window, available for annotating.

Can you clarify how exactly you take the screenshot? And what changes in the configuration window have you made?

Capture Rectangular Region is assigned to Print key. Press Print key to capture region. Region is captured. Notification displayed. To open Spectacle main window, you have to click Annotate.

Spectacle used to automatically open to the main to the main window after capture. For me, I typically complete the capture by double-clicking the region.

Can reproduce, but I think this was intentional. Noah can probably shed more light on it.

Are you using the "Quit after manual save or copy" option, in conjunction with the "Ahter taking a screenshot: Copy image to the clipboard" option?
