Description sylvain.saboua 2024-08-07 21:31:12 UTC
When Apple took the historical distance from Intel I acquired an M1 for curiosity and tech-awareness.
MacBook's are renowned for their ergonomics. I have found this to be quite deserved, although I still can't “hold a window on top” like in other UNIX-like systems ... however one thing that is really nice to use among others is the default three-fingers swipe gestures.

During any normal activity involving the desktop or any windowed application :
· swiping *up* with three fingers displays all the windows on the *current desktop* allowing to pick one. swiping down with three fingers again reverts to the previous view of the current desktop/window.
· swiping *down* with three fingers displays all the windows of the *current application* allowing to pick one. swiping up with three fingers again revers to the previous view of the current window.
· swiping left/right with three fingers switches to the next/previous desktop.

Would this be doable to add to Plasma/KWin ? Thank you

Thanks for reporting this feature request!

On Wayland, swiping up for an overview effect and swiping left/right for changing virtual desktops is already implemented. They use four fingers instead of three. (Swiping down currently shows the overview for all virtual desktops, instead of for one app)

It is planned to make these user-configurable in the future; which should make binding them to three-finger gestures and having a single-app overview on swiping down possible.

Please follow the further developments regarding this in the linked feature request.
