SUMMARY

Trying out KOrganizer for the first time, after having created a bunch of events on my Google Calendar I found out they all are non-functional, because once event happens I get no reminder. What is the point of calendar event a user doesn't know about?

I found a reminder can be created by applying a template, but it is a problem, because I can't rely on myself never missing to manually apply the template. Especially given that Android Google Calendar behaves as expected and creates event reminders. (the annoyance of additional steps I don't even mention about).

--------

Project README has the following snippet:

> KOrganizer will remind you about pending tasks and help you keep your schedule.

Well, apparently that's not entirely true.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open KOrganizer
2. Press Alt + n to create a new event
3. Set the event date+time for 1 minute from current time and press OK
4. Wait for the next minute

OBSERVED RESULT

Nothing happens

EXPECTED RESULT

There will be a notification

It isn't clear to me that you actually set the reminder when creating the event.

Also, you can have all new events to enable a reminder by default.
look in the Korganizer configuration under Time&Date then Default Values
and you will see options for "enable reminders for new events" and "enable reminders for new todos"

Thank you, this seems to work.

I'm wondering, wouldn't it make sense to make it the default? Is it a frequent case to create an event and expect no notification for it?

yes, I think reminders should be enabled by default.

I'll see what I can do

Per the last comment, to avoid report being closed, setting status to "REPORTED".
