Screenshot of all three monitors showing a kicad dropdown working correctly under x11

Description pawlikj1 2024-07-20 19:45:45 UTC
SUMMARY
App dropdown menu shows not under the dropdown but instead half a screen away. See attached screenshot. The problem is shown on the ultrawide screen with kicad application, but other GTK apps (that run under xWayland) are also affected.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install KiCAD or any other GTK app that runs under xWayland
2. Use Wayland
3. Have at least two screens (I have three)
4. One of the screens must be ultrawide
5. Second screen must be either below or above the ultrawide screen - being on the right or left doesn't trigger the bug
5. Add a second default panel on the second (non-ultrawide) screen
6. The second panel on the non ultrawide must be on the right side of the screen
7. Open KiCAD on the ultrawide, hover mouse over any dropdown menu - the problem is there!

OBSERVED RESULT
App dropdown menu shows half a screen away.

EXPECTED RESULT
App dropdown menu shows under the dropdown.

Screenshot didn't attach due to size constraints, I'll make it smaller and attach again in a minute.

Tested with second device - laptop with two screen. One built in and second ultrawide. Used fedora 40 KDE. The issue is not present on the laptop.

Differences I can think of:
Built in vs actual second monitor
The laptop had nvidia instead of AMD on the desktop (first device) (I did not use proprietary drivers tho)
The laptop also has integrated Intel graphics

Can you confirm it all works as expected on your monitor setup on X11?

Do you have any scaling on any monitors?

Here is a screenshot showing the dropwdown in kicad working correctly under x11.

I don't have any display scaling on any of my monitors, either in x11 or wayland. All of my monitors are set to 100%.
