24-0721 I am still encountering problems. If I load a different wallpaper, the icons on the toolbar work fine. If I add any icons to the toolbar they give the error message I wrote about before. Checking the permissions of any newly added icons I find that the owner is AVAHI, and the group is AUDIO. I added AVAHI and AUDIO to the owner of this desktop but it didn't help. Also, after a reboot, USER, GROUP, and OTHER are now blank. To launch programs that are not by default put on the toolbar you must open the penu and choose from there. Does the issue reproduce in a new clean user account with no customization? If it does, please attach a screen recording that shows the issue happening so I can be sure I'm testing in the same way as you're encountering it. Thanks a lot! Nate,
I opened a new user and have not been able to recreate the problem.
I tried over the weekend to change and modify the new user to see if I
could get the error to reproduce but this new user is OK so far.
Off an on I will keep trying to see if I can get the error to show up.

I have been able to duplicate this bug and fix it. The problem was as follows; When choosing "Add to Panel (Widget)", one of the available options from Application Menu, then choose "System", then choose "Setting", then choose "Yast", then choose "Add to Panel (Widget") this and other options would attach themselves to the bottom toolbar but after installation on the toolbar, clicking on the icon created an error message telling me that I did not have permission to open the option. The problem occurred because my fstab option, which I set using Yast Partitioner, "Edit", "Mount Option", "Fstab Option", "Mountable by User", (checked "Yes"). If I uncheck 'Yes" the problem will go away, only after a Reboot' I am using, up to date Linux Leap 15.5, a 1TB HD with three EX4 Partitions, 100GB, 300GB, 400GB. mounted on /home/100GB, ETC. jimonlinux |
