SUMMARY
I've been installing the latest couple of Kdenlive builds from here:

https://cdn.kde.org/ci-builds/multimedia/kdenlive/release-24.05/windows/

Each time I run Kdenlive I get the attached popup in my antivirus software (Avast) on the first launch. I see there is a kioworker.exe file in the kdenlive folder so does this mean I need to add kioworker.exe to my antivirus exception list? I also had similar popups for melt.exe while running Kdenlive which I assume is OK to allow as it seems to be part of the ffmpeg library.

I just wasn't sure what kioworker.exe is and wanted to make sure it's a legitimate program.

Thanks!

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install Kdenlive and run for first time
2. Receive attached popup in my antivirus software (Avast)
3. Program appears to run OK but obviously kioworker.exe is being blocked - should I allow it?

OBSERVED RESULT
Pop up appears

Hi and thanks for your report.
Yes, kioworker.exe is a helper to access various file/network protocols, part of the KDE Frameworks:
https://invent.kde.org/frameworks/kio/-/tree/master/src/kioworker?ref_type=heads

I am however not sure why it triggers this alert, I will try to ask some KDE Frameworks developers if they have any hint on it and will get back to you.

Thank you, I was pretty sure it was OK but just wanted to make sure. Kdenlive still seems to work OK with it blocked but will add it to Avast's exception list as I'm sure it must be doing something under the hood!
