Virtual desktop menu mockup

SUMMARY

Right now the pagers widget takes an excessive amount of space when there are many virtual desktops. This is the natual consequence of having many virtual desktops and having a preview for each of them on the panel.

In many cases, however, the pagers widget is used as a mouse-accessible selector for virtual desktops. In this case, the preview is unnecessary, and there should be ways to turn off the preview to reduce the space that the pager applet takes up.

(The same applies to the activity pager.)

There are two ways to address this:

1. Implement a menu for virtual desktops, similar to the window list.
2. Implement an option to only display an icon that, when pressed, opens Overview.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Add like 4 horizontal virtual desktops
2. Ensure there is a desktop pager applet on the panel

OBSERVED RESULT
The pager applet is excessively wide, and there is no option to reduce the size while retaining the ability to switch desktops with mouse clicks.

EXPECTED RESULT
There is a way to get a pager menu or a button to open Overview.

FWIW, both of these are available as community-made widgets on store.kde.org:

A collapsed version that opens a popup or Overview when clicked would make sense, yeah.
