digiKam has options to "hide" images, one of which is to hide original or derived images. Go to the digiKam settings for the image editor -> versioning. Activate the options to always show original and derived images. https://docs.digikam.org/en/setup_application/editor_settings.html#image-versioning-settings Another option would be "hidden" images created by grouping. In the context menu of the album tree there is the option to repair hidden images. In any case, the status bar at the bottom left will show with additional text that images are "hidden".
