Input display font is too small and hard to read.

2. Navigate to "Font" at left side of window;

OBSERVED RESULT
There are three options to configure fonts, but none of them affects the input display.

KDE Frameworks Version: 6.2.0
Qt Version: 6.7.1

This seems pretty straightforward, and is an accessibility issue
Comment 2 Gabriel Barrantes 2024-06-27 17:21:11 UTC
There is proposed patch for this:
https://invent.kde.org/utilities/kcalc/-/merge_requests/98
however according to the discussion in the MR, the font configuration page might get actually removed. The proposal is to increment the font size depending of the windows size and not allow the user to change it manually.

Also reproduceable in Fedora 40 KDE Plasma.
Comment 5 Wilson Phillips 2025-06-13 11:23:31 UTC
I can also confirm this bug.

Change font settings. All seem to work except the display. Restart app and changes are gone.

Also, missing thousands separator. The longer the number, the harder it is to read. 1000000000000.00 or 1,000,000,000,000.00

For the button font, only changing the style of the font has an effect but not changing the size. Is the history font even supposed to affect the data entry field?
Even if there will be a new approach to font control, the size of the font in the data entry area is clearly too small and could easily be increased now, independent of any other future font configuration changes.

Tiny input

Compared to Qalculate!, KCalc can't be used at all when the input expression gets too big and complex
Comment 8 Thomas Bertels 2025-09-30 09:04:53 UTC
I suggest using the same font size for both input and result and keep making the result bold.
Instead of adding a setting or removing the existing ones, the display font can be used for both input and result with addition of bold for the result.

Can confirm- this app is not the most readable at high resolutions. I'd personally like to see the buttons and readout displays some with larger fonts by default. This app is basically an appliance and most like it have more readable fonts by default.
