On Macos the built-in image viewer has a neat feature where you can select text on an image https://support.apple.com/guide/preview/interact-with-text-in-a-photo-prvw625a5b2c/mac

It would be great if Gwenview could also do this

That would be indeed great, but probably it's very hard to implement taking a lot of time.
Hopefully still someone will implement it one day.

Windows also has https://blogs.windows.com/windows-insider/2023/09/14/new-updates-for-snipping-tool-and-phone-link-begin-rolling-out-to-windows-insiders/#:~:text=text%20actions%20with%20snipping%20tool and I can also select text in images on my android phone. So this seems like a reasonable feature request.
