Sentry Crash Report:

Description Evstratios Moraites 2024-06-08 18:48:39 UTC
I get the latest (near-nightly) versions of digikam.
The last few version are not recognizing exiftool.
The program complains about it in an expiring yellow stripe at the top of the window.
Pointing the program to the one in your installation folder does nothing.
Downloading another copy of exiftool and pointing the program to it doesn't help.
Now what?

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Comment 1 Evstratios Moraites 2024-06-08 18:50:54 UTC
digiKam-8.4.0-20240606T153013-Qt6-Win64.exe is the one I'm using now.
This one fails to recognize exiftool as I described.
The last three versions also reject exiftool.

I use digiKam-8.4.0-20240608T071222-Qt6-Win64
same thing

Current digikam-8.4.0 Windows just tested again, no problem with ExifTool. I suspect a problem with the antivirus program you are using. Problems with antivirus programs are also known in the ExifTool forum. Add digiKam and Exiftool as exceptions in the antivirus program.
Otherwise, activate internal debugging in the digiKam settings and create a DebugView log from the start of digiKam, as described here:

Please test with the last 8?5?0 prerelease installer available here :

Hi,

I had the same problem following the installation of digiKam-8.4.0-Qt6-Win64

I installed digiKam-8.5.0-20240723T043438-Qt6-Win64: the problem is solved

Thanks :)
