*** Bug 487223 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** Comparing KSM to KSG here, KSM takes ~4 seconds to get to the process list (excluding human reaction time to switch to the Processes tab). IIRC, KSG on Plasma 5 used to load within <0.5 seconds (much faster). The difference not only wastes users' time, but also 1. has effect on users' opinions (for example: I feel annoyed and helpless when I want to check process list and it takes too long to load) 2. bad press (https://discuss.kde.org/t/bring-ksysguard-back-as-neither-plasma-systemmonitor-ksystemstats-are-any-good/8469) 3. changes how a user works (e.g. switching to command line tools; checking the process list less frequently only when absolutely necessary). === Operating System: Fedora Linux 41 KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.9.0 Qt Version: 6.8.1 Kernel Version: 6.12.6-200.fc41.x86_64 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 Processors: 8 × Intel® Core™ i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz Memory: 15.4 ГиБ of RAM Graphics Processor: Mesa Intel® HD Graphics 530 This seems to have gotten noticeably worse. If setting the sidebar to collapse the animation will play as if it was rendering in single digit fps. Then opening a tab like processes or applications takes 2s to show anything the first time you click it. Ksysguard still loads instant so there's no reason why it's replacement takes 2 seconds to load each tab. |
