When manually running Tokodon version 24.02.1, does not go past the loading screen (see attachment).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1.  Run flatpak run -v org.kde.tokodon from terminal.

Tried downgrading kirigami-addons-1.1.0 to 1.0.1 but still same problem.
Have cleared cache under /home/kevin/.var/app/org.kde.tokodon/ no effect
 Renamed entire .org.kde.tokodon to start afresh, but no effect.

Note that '/var/lib/flatpak/exports/share' is not in the search path
set by the XDG_DATA_HOME and XDG_DATA_DIRS
environment variables, so applications may not
be able to find it until you set them. The
directories currently searched are:

- /root/.local/share
- /usr/local/share/
- /usr/share/

Changes complete.


Installed Tokodon version 23.04.3 from flathub-beta which works fine after having to re-login in to server.

The kirigami-addons-1.1.0 was last updated in flatpak 02/04/24 09:27:34, that's why I tried a downgrade of it.

Have tried both logging off session and also restarting PC. Still same affect.

Could you try moving/removing your configuration files in .var and see if that helps? This may be a login issue, although it really shouldn't be sticking to that screen :/

HI Joshua
Did as you requested. I had moved the .var/app/tokodon folder by renaming it earlier to .var/app/tokodon copy but Tokodon still wouldn't open fully.
This time I moved the folder completely out of .var and Tokodon started correctly, but I had to login to the serve, together with all the associated 2FA. Everything working as expected.

I'm glad that worked, did you happen to upgrade from 23.08 -> 24.02 (or perhaps from something even older?) I wonder if the config is getting messed up somehow.

This has been a continuous cycle of upgrading since I first started using the Flatpak version which looks like it could have been release 22.11.2.
I can see back to 30/11/22 when the kirigami-addons was added.

Closing as I suspect I have fixed this in 24.12. I also asked one of the Flatpak maintainers to backport a fix, so keep an eye out for an update. Or else, re-open if this still happens in 24.12.
