SUMMARY
I have my laptop connected to a USB-C dock with an external screen. When I disconnect the laptop from the dock with the laptop lid closed (so the external is the only screen) very often the result is a totally black screen on the laptop (without even mouse) and the laptop is totally unresponsive. Reconnecting to the hub does not solve, only long press power button helps. In some cases the result is only a black screen with mouse, when I can start a console and start plasmashell. Yes, it has to be started, because it is not running, at least kquitapp6 says this.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Disconnect the external screen with laptop lid closed.

OBSERVED RESULT
Unresponsive black screen or black screen with only mouse

EXPECTED RESULT
It should work normally.

Same problem on my side, also on tumbleweed

I also have the following experience: Same laptop, USB-C dock with dual monitors connected. I send the laptop to sleep. After wakeup ALL screens are black and disconnecting the dock does not bring back the built-in screen.

I think this is the same bug, since sleep is essentially disconnecting the external monitor.

This practically renders sleep broken.
