Thanks for the bug report. There have been many improvements since this bug report was opened. It appears this bug was fixed. The behavior has also changed. I verified this on an up to date install of KDE Neon.

Can we ask you to please check if this is still an issue with Plasma 6.1.3 (the latest released version)?

If you can still reproduce the bug, please change the Status to "CONFIRMED". Thanks.

Steps to try to reproduce:
- Set up 2 activities
- Added the activity switcher widget to the task bar

1. Opened Firefox, set it to only be on the first activity
2. Dragged its icon from the task bar to the second activity

Observed:
There was no menu offering to add or move Firefox
Firefox was added to the second activity when I dropped the icon

Operating System: KDE neon 6.0
KDE Plasma Version: 6.1.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.4.0
Qt Version: 6.7.2
Kernel Version: 6.5.0-45-generic (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland

Thanks for your answer. I just did the test, and sorry if it's my mistake, but you're right—the activity switcher works fine with drag and drop.

However, the problem still remains for me because the widget with the issue is the 'Activity Manager,' that sidebar that appears when you click the Activity Manager button on the taskbar.

So, activity switcher: okay to move apps between activities,
Activity Manager widget: not okay.

I hope this was helpful. Let me know if you need more tests.

There are 3 activity widget alternatives: "Activities", "Activity Bar" and "Activity Pager"
To see the activity manager at the edge as described, the "Activities" widget must be the one on the taskbar

Re-tested with that and can confirm the bug on KDE Neon 6.0 / Plasma 6.1.4, as well as git-master on Solus

This bug is still present in plasma 6.2.2 with wayland. Dopping an application/window item on the Activity Manager does nothing. The sidebar closes but then the window is not moved/added to the target activity.

Tested with packages from the following ubuntu repository:
    https://launchpad.net/~ci-train-ppa-service/+archive/ubuntu/4983
    https://launchpad.net/~ci-train-ppa-service/+archive/ubuntu/4984

Plasma Version: 6.2.2
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.6.0
Qt Version: 6.7.2
Kernel Version 6.11.0-9-generic
Graphics Platform: Wayland

I'm glad to hear this is working for you now. If the bug recurs, please set this to REOPENED. Thanks!

Not working on Wayland.
Seams that OP switched from Wayland to X11.

You're absolutely right, and I apologize for the confusion earlier. I switched from Wayland to X11 some time ago due to other issues, and at that time, this bug was also affecting X11.

I've now tested the issue again under Wayland, and unfortunately, the bug is still present.

Well darn. Thanks for confirming this is still happening. It looks similar to bug 450341. Can I ask anyone affected to confirm something?

If an application only has one window, are you able to drag and drop it into a different activity? Thanks.

That is exactly what I tested, only one window, drag and drop => failed.
Same thing with many windows in one icon.
