Is this X11? On Wayland, the panel configuration popups seems to close after the Show Alternatives one appears

Yes, on X11. Haven't tested this on Wayland

Panel Setings popup covers the options flyout of widgets on the right edge of the panel

Can confirm this still happens on Wayland. The big Panel Settings popup can't be moved or hidden, so it covers the settings of any widget on the right edge.

I was able to reproduce this on 6.1.3 (X11), where the tooltip for the system tray was hidden behind the panel configuration box
The widget hover menu was also hidden

I am not able to reproduce this in git-master (Wayland). All of the pop up menus now appear above the panel configuration pop-up.

Natalie, are you still able to reproduce this on git-master?

I also can't reproduce it on git master, should i bisect to find out what fixed it, so it can be backported to the next 6.1 bugfix release?

panel-settings-popup overlapping remove-configure-alternatives-popup

i don't understand why my reported issue is different?

granted op Natalie is talking about a "Panel configuration po[p]up", but when you look at the attachment
https://bugsfiles.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=167907
she provided on 2024-03-29 01:23 UTC you can clearly see this is in fact a misnomer and actually refers to the "panel settings" popup overlapping the "remove / configure / show alternatives" popup.

also Lyra's attachment shows thats this is supposed to be the issue here.

one cannot argue that this issue here lies only in one of the two panels overlapping each other, when the problem is "two panels are overlapping each other". it might be that the _solution_ to the problem lies in only fixing one of them, but the problem is the relative behavior of two panels.
even if one could treat it this way, my post does nowhere restrict itself on only one of the two popups but rather the problem that they are overlapping. so my post is very well facing the same issue OP reported, except mine is about a wayland session.

actually this whole bug might be a duplicate of

The bug is no longer reproducible for me.
