Description Simon Hepburn 2002-09-28 02:34:25 UTC
Version: 1.4.3 (using KDE KDE 3.0.3)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages
Compiler: gcc 2.95.4
OS: Linux

If I create/reply to a message in composer and then save the message in the drafts folder line-wrap is lost. If I re-open the message in composer I get line-wrap back.If I then queue the message it appears in outbox with line-wrap intact. No problem. If however I don't reopen the message prior to sending i.e. I click on drafts then RMB->Move To->Outbox on the message header, the message appears in Outbox without line-wrap intact

This is done intentionally because else paragraphs couldn't be
word-wrapped correctly when you edit a draft. To see what I mean open a
draft in the composer and add some words at the begin of a longer
paragraph. Do you see how the whole paragraph is still nicely
word-wrapped? Now do the same for a queued message (in the outbox). Do
you notice the difference?

Well, you simply must not move messages from drafts to the outbox.

Yes, I see the difference. Thanks for the explanation.

OK, from now on I will re-open all drafts in composer prior to queueing. Can I
file a wishlist bug that this be documented in help:/kmail please? Do I
need to do this officially through bugs.kde or does this suffice?

Would it be worth removing|disabling the methods to move|drag messages from
drafts to the outbox? Perhaps until some point in the future where you have a
method that somehow preserves|reapplies the line wrap that you specified in
composer, when you move|drag drafts to the outbox?

Thanks for your time and hard work.
