Created attachment 167304 [details]
color going from bright red to dark green

SUMMARY
I have noticed that filling the layer with a color by dragging the colors on the canvas is always a shade darker, while the fill bucket is the correct color. I have attached videos.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. double click on the color boxes to open the "select a color" window, leave it open on the side of the canvas
2. pic a very saturated color
3. drag and drop it on the canvas
4. pick the canvas color
5. drag and drop it again
3. pick the canvas color
 repeat a few times

OBSERVED RESULT
the color will be darker each time you drop it, you can see the color name changing in the select a color window too

EXPECTED RESULT
to always use the same color

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows 10
 Version: 5.3.0-prealpha (git 1ef82c9)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I have tried this with different settings and checked if perhaps I was filling with a blending mode, but it all looks normal/default. I also tried this with both elle and standard srgb (the one I was using for the video) color profiles, it happens in both.

Update on this:

This happens only when I have calibrated color profile in both the OS and in the krita color management settings.
Comment 2 Wolfgang Baer 2024-11-21 22:17:51 UTC
Confirmed with Krita 5.2.3 on Windows 11.

Additional Information:

If
Settings -> Configure Krite -> Color Management -> Display
has an ICC profile assigned that is different from the document ICC profile, then the dropped color changes with each drop.

If the display and the document profile are the same, then the dropped color does not change.

In my test the display icc profile assigned in the Windows OS color management does not have an influence.
