SUMMARY
when switching the desktop with the selected "Slide" animation when opening or hiding any application, it will appear/hide without animation (sometimes it is). however, there is no such problem with the "Smooth Desktop Change" animation


STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. change the animation when switching desktops to "Slide"
2. switch the desktop in any way
3. try to open or hide the running application through the taskbar or launch any application

OBSERVED RESULT
there is no window animation

EXPECTED RESULT
it was expected to open/hide the window with the usual animation

Hi - thanks for raising this. I've tried this on my stock Neon installation (plasma 6.0.2) and I repeat your test about 30 times and saw the issue once. So on my system (Thinkpad X390) it is very intermittent.

Are you able to re-try on 6.0.2 and report back? Also can you provide more details of your system and graphics card in case that might be a factor? Thanks Nick.

hi. yes, the bug can still be reproduced on 6.0.2. I also wanted to add that the bug occurs even on stock settings

distro - EndeavourOS, graphics card - AMD Radeon RX 470

OK - I can duplicate this now on Neon, but kind of the opposite of the original reported issue. If I change the desktop change animation from slide to fade, I can duplicate the problem (i.e. switch to a new workspace with windows already open, and then when I minimize / maximize by using the task bar buttons, the windows just appear and disappear with no animations). When I return to sing 'slide' the windows animate correctly.

Sounds like a reproducible bug to me so flagging this as confirmed hoping a dev can take a look.

I can reproduce this regardless of which desktop switching animation is used, as well as with it off. Also, restarting plasmashell fixes the issue until I switch the desktop again.
