I'm going to assume that this is on X11 and a duplicate of Bug 481308. Please update to Plasma 6.0.2 and reopen this in case you're still seeing this after the update. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 481308 *** (In reply to Jakob Petsovits from comment #1) > I'm going to assume that this is on X11 and a duplicate of Bug 481308. > Please update to Plasma 6.0.2 and reopen this in case you're still seeing > this after the update. > > *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 481308 *** This happened with Wayland Ah, thanks. It might be something different then. What is the configured time in the "Screen Locking" settings page for "Lock screen automatically", and does this still happen in the same way if you disable automatic screen locking? I've attached an image in my original post. All options are disabled/unchecked (In reply to William AC from comment #4) > I've attached an image in my original post. All options are > disabled/unchecked The image shows the "Energy Saving" page. I'm interested in the "Screen Locking" page because the power management service interacts with that in some ways. Sorry, Lock screen automatically: - after (5 min): uncheked - after waking from sleep: check Allow unlocking without password for: 5 sec Thanks. Let me try out your settings and see if I can reproduce something similar on my system. (In reply to Jakob Petsovits from comment #7) > Thanks. At present I've changed to X11 because it's more stable than Wayland (moreover, certain apps are not compatible yet), and I'm not having this problem so far. I'm sorry to report that with similar settings as the ones you posted, on my stable (not dev) session using Arch 6.0.1 packages, I was not able to reproduce this. I'd say let's get more logs, but my commit to add logs to DPMS action - the one responsible for turning off displays - did not make it into 6.0.2. I'll see if I can get it into 6.0.3 to help with future debugging of such issues. Other than that, I'm not sure how to figure out what's going wrong on your system. Maybe someone else has a better idea. Given the fixes that went into 6.0.2, if you could try it out on Wayland again once the packages are available, I'd appreciate that. I'm on wayland and arch linux seeing my laptop screen turn off every 2 minutes while on AC power, while being configured not to. Settings: - On AC Power: none of the boxes checked (no dimming, no turning off screen) - On battery (defaults: dim after 2min, turn off after 5min) - On low battery (defaults, but changed "Turn off screen" to after 3 minutes, to rule out that not being the source of 2 minutes). Laptop: ASUS Flow X16 2023. Operating System: Arch Linux vmlinuz-linux-rt.arch.20240313.1054.efi KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.1 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.0.0 Qt Version: 6.6.2 Kernel Version: 6.7.0.6.realtime1-1-rt (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland There's another internal battery that shows up in the tray status called ELAN9008:00, which I understand to be something related to the touchscreen. That always reports "Fully Charged" and "1%", so it's always a red battery icon. I wondered if that somehow was the source, but I don't think it is after changing the low battery timeout to 3 minutes and I still see the screen turn off after 2 minutes. How do I get more logs on this? Journalctl shows nothing when the screen turns off. I have a similar problem, Weather on AC or Battery the screen dim to complete black after one minute, event when I watching a video (in this case power and battery indicator correctly reports that an application is blocking sleep). I tried to change settings in energy saving and waiting a minute and it happens each time. As said above it is hard to find what is dimming the screen, as there is no logs event in with dbus-monitor Operating System: KDE neon 6.0 KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.2 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.0.0 Qt Version: 6.6.2 Kernel Version: 6.5.0-25-generic (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 8 × Intel® Core™ i7-8565U CPU @ 1.80GHz Memory: 15,4 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: Mesa Intel® UHD Graphics 620 Manufacturer: LENOVO Product Name: 20QDCTO1WW System Version: ThinkPad X1 Carbon 7th I'm now on 6.0.2 and kernel 6.7.9 and not having the issue. Maybe it was 6.0.1 or it was the lower kernel version or both. Or intermittent and I'll see if it stays good after some more restarts. |
Created attachment 166777 [details] my current Energy Saving settings SUMMARY I just installed Endeavouros with KDE Plasma 6, and I’m getting this problem with my screen even when Energy Saving is unchecked all its properties (see attachment). My screen persists in turning off after 5 or 7 minutes, sometimes it fails to recover after making movements with the mouse and stays off. This did not happen with Plasma 5. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Uncheck all properties on Energy Saving settings 2. Apply changes 3. Don't touch/move anything on your PC for 7 minutes at least OBSERVED RESULT Screen turns off EXPECTED RESULT Screen stays on SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS - OS: EndeavourOS Linux x86_64 - Kernel: 6.7.9-zen1-1-zen - Shell: zsh 5.9 - Resolution: 3440x1440 - DE: Plasma 6.0.1 - WM: KWin - Icons: breeze [GTK2/3] - Terminal: WarpTerminal - CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 1700 (16) @ 3.800GHz - GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 - Memory: 15905MiB - KDE Frameworks version: 6.0.0 - Qt version: 6.6.2 - Monitor: Huawei ZQE-CBA ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
