STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Upgrade to Plasma6
2. Access System Tray Settings
3. Select 'Entries'
4. Lock Key status = Always Shown
5. Reboot

OBSERVED RESULT
1. Printer icon is very dim.
2. Other entries do not show an icon

EXPECTED RESULT
Icons should been seen

From the screenshot, it looks like you are using an icon theme other than the default Breeze. Then I think it's because of this change:

And your icon theme doesn't fallback to Breeze in its `index.theme`.

I'll give it a couple of days but should I report this to the icon dev? Can this ticket be moved to that queue?

Try switching to the default icon theme if the icon is correctly shown, report the issue to icon theme dev with reference to this bug report.
