Can you clarify what exactly "the power saving mode" is? Did you hover the pointer over a system tray icon when it crashed? My system is configured to put the monitor in power saving mode after 1 minute of inactivity. I reconnected the hdmi monitor, "no signal, entering power saving mode shortly" message appeared on the screen and then the monitor entered in the power saving as the message said. I reactivate the screen by moving the mouse pointer and Plasma crashed. I did not observe the position of the mouse pointer when the crash occurred.
