Sentry Crash Report:

Description Victor Rijnoveanu 2024-02-20 10:48:53 UTC
SUMMARY

I have disabled the Segoe UI Emoji font. After I have done that, system settings closed itself. I re-opened system settings, looked up the same font again and tried to expand its dropdown menu. It has crashed. It returns the following error message:

X Error of failed request: BadLength (poly request too large or internal Xlib length error)
Major opcode of failed request: 139 (RENDER)
Minor opcode of failed request: 20 (RenderAddGlyphs)
Serial number of failed request: 460
Current serial number in output stream: 832

I thought it was an NVIDIA proprietary driver on wayland moment. Sure enough it was. I tried the same thing on my AMD integrated graphics laptop on wayland, no crash. Tried them both on X11, no crash.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
0. Get NVIDIA system, preferably 10 series.
1. Open systemsettings.
2. Go to font management.
3. Disable system font.
4. Might need to close and reopen systemsettings.
5. Look up the same disabled system font again.
6. Click to expand dropdown menu.

OBSERVED RESULT

Crash

EXPECTED RESULT

Allow me to re-enable the font

Thank you for the bug report, and I'm sorry we weren't able to look into it yet. A lot has changed since it was reported; can I ask you to see if this is still an issue with Plasma 6.4 or later? Thanks a lot!

Apologies I no longer have my NVIDIA system. Works fine on a 9070 XT tho.
