SUMMARY
I have 2025 JXL files in a folder. When I open it with Gwenview, it begin to show thumbnails, while literally eating all my RAM till I have no more (I have 16GB RAM).


STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create a directory with JXL images (HD resolution mostly)
2. Open previous folder with Gwenview

OBSERVED RESULT
While generating thumbnails, Gwenview eats all RAM slowly, till system need to take swap storage and then system begin unresponsive. 

EXPECTED RESULT
To show thumbnails without issues.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This begin to happen just after transcode all 2025 JPG  files to JXL. So I think is related to the way Gwenview is managing JXL thumbnails.

Has "Low Ressource Mode" helped you? Does the bug persist in Gwenview 25.08?

Regarding speed, the truth is that now, without even activating "low resources" mode, reading JXL files is quite fast from an external USB hard drive. RW2 (RAW) files take the same amount of time. As for RAM memory, I don't notice a significant difference between having low resources mode enabled or not.

Where I don't see any speed increase after enabling this mode is when opening folders with videos. It's equally slow creating video thumbnails.
