SUMMARY
When I launch a game from Steam my system log gets spammed with this type of message

1. I open a game from Steam - in this particular example Doom 2016

OBSERVED RESULT

System log gets spammed with error messages by plasmashell

Complain once and stop

These messages may be sent by Plasma, but their origin is Steam--and more specifically, from the game you're playing through Steam.

Ah. It seem Doom 2016 is naughty.
