Description lukas 2002-09-19 14:51:40 UTC
Version: 1.4.2 (using KDE KDE 3.0.2)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux

I've written an e-mail in KMail and saved it several times as draft in the draft folder. Suddenly KMail crashed and it wasn't even possible to restart it. After I had restarted my computer KMail started again, but the drafted e-mail was gone. It seems that KMail deletes e-mails from the draft folder when opening them. I really think it shouldn't do that since I was under the impression that the e-mail is saved on the harddrive. This bug cost me about 4 hours of work.

If you are using the mbox mail folder format then the message is probably
still there. To revive it quit KMail, delete the files ~/Mail/.drafts.index*
and restart KMail.

If you are using the maildir mail folder format then the message is
unfortunately irrevocably lost.

I've tried that and it didn't work. I also searched through the Mail dir with KFind without success so I guess my mail is really lost. But anyway, thanks for the hint. Cheers Lukas
