Hi, can you share a screenshot of the difference? Cascadia is a variable font, and it might be that the two different text engines are selecting a different weight. Created attachment 164983 [details]

For what it's worth, it *does* work in 5.3 with the new text tool, so at the very least it will work in the next version of Krita?
I consider that as problem solved. We don't do any of the rendering ourselves in Krita 5.2, so this isn't something we can actually influence. Plus, all text code in 5.2 is legacy. Comment on attachment 164983 [details]
