May I ask you for a screenshot?
Comment 2 Nate Graham 2024-01-16 21:42:41 UTC
Indeed. Also make sure that it shows the whole screen so we can see where your panel is relative to everything else.

Hi,

Thanks for the replies.

I wanted to include a video so you would see it better but Spectacle is crashing.

So I did a record on the Windows host : https://we.tl/t-Z3LU2IgGYd

I am testing the RC1 on VMWare Workstation 17 player and Wayland is used, not x11.

I'm afraid the video is completely blank. :(

I tested it on Windows and even on my iPhone and I can see it. Did you tried with VLC ?
Comment 6 Nate Graham 2024-01-17 01:14:00 UTC
Yep. Maybe it got corrupted in the upload?

Comment 8 Nate Graham 2024-01-18 22:11:22 UTC
I can, thanks. That is extremely strange!
Comment 9 Kevin Messer 2024-01-18 23:33:57 UTC
Good that you can ! Could it be a VMWare bug as you do not seem to have it ?
Comment 10 Niccolò Venerandi 2024-01-19 13:12:52 UTC
I get "This video has been archived and is not available to watch at this time." :-/
Comment 11 Kevin Messer 2024-01-19 13:33:46 UTC
I reuploaded the video with an account so it should not be deleted.

Hi,

Just so you know, this bug also exists on Plasma 5, I can reproduce it also in a VMware fusion VM Fedora 39 with Plasma 5.27.10, KDE Frameworks 5.111.0, QT version 5.15.11 and on Wayland.
And it also appear when the panel is not floating but you just drag your mouse towards the panel.

I don't have the bug on my steam deck but it is running X11 and not wayland, so not sure if it happens on a bare metal Fedora 39 as I don't have any spare PC for that.
Comment 13 Nate Graham 2024-01-30 23:13:56 UTC
Thanks, I can see it now. That is very weird!
Comment 14 Kevin Messer 2024-02-22 17:49:19 UTC
It also happen if you click while the pointer is on any side of the screen or if you click and select the desktop and move towards any side of the screen.
Comment 15 Nate Graham 2024-08-28 19:37:07 UTC
Sorry we weren't able to investigate this yet. Can I ask if you're still able to reproduce the issue with Plasma 6.1.4 or newer? Thanks a lot!
Comment 16 Kevin Messer 2024-09-07 23:42:17 UTC
Hi, yes this is still present on Fedora 40 using Plasma 6.1.4, KDE Frameworks 6.5.0 and Qt 6.7.2 on Wayland.

I'm not able to reproduce this on 6.1.5 (tried with Solus and KDE Neon) or git-master for what its worth (Wayland)
Comment 19 TraceyC 2025-02-24 17:58:39 UTC
Adding the x11-only keyword
Comment 20 Kevin Messer 2025-02-24 20:18:18 UTC
It happens on Wayland, not X11.
Comment 21 Niccolò Venerandi 2025-03-19 15:52:45 UTC
I'm really sorry to ask you this again, but any chance you could upload a video of this bug (even better if it's on the latest version of Plasma) on a platform where it won't be automatically removed? I often can't work immediately on a bug, and if I wait for a few months then I have to ask you to upload a new file each time… You can upload it directly here on bugzilla!

Hi Niccolò Venerandi, I uploaded the video to the bugzilla. Sorry for the issue, I did not knew you could upload to Bugzilla !
Comment 25 Kevin Messer 2025-05-25 19:41:45 UTC
The issue is still present on Fedora 42. Also, the white square/X11 icon appear also with the panel unfloated when you drag towards the panel.
