Description Laura David Hurka 2023-12-31 11:10:32 UTC
SUMMARY
When you click the unused space in the thumbnails bar (this happens only if you are in a directory that has not enough images to cover the window width), View mode is left.
The thumbnails bar itself also disappears.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open an image in a directory with only few images.
2. Make the thumbnail bar visible.
3. Click on the unused space in the thumbnail bar (left-click or right-click).

OBSERVED RESULT
Gwenview switches from View mode to Browse mode.
(On right-click, the context menu for the directory is shown in addition.)

EXPECTED RESULT
Nothing.
(On right-click, the context menu for the directory still makes sense.)

I would argue that this is not a bug. It has a clear purpose: Giving the user, who uses the limited thumbnail view the more powerful Browse view.

I don’t agree that this is a clear purpose. There is only empty space when there are such few pictures that all of them fit in the thumbnails bar. So what is the point of having a more powerful view?

On the opposite, if there are many pictures, and a more powerful view is needed, this feature is broken.

You have a point there.
