An additional observation: In ~/.local/share/kscreen/outputs, there is one file/ID for the Lenovo monitor, but three files/IDs for the ASUS monitor. Is the ASUS monitor for some reason sometimes getting recognized as a new monitor, assigned a new ID and because of the new ID, considered a completely new hardware arrangement with it's own (default) settings? *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 477238 *** |
Created attachment 164067 [details] Contents of ~/.local/share/kscreen SUMMARY Display arrangement settings are sometimes lost after shutting down and starting a new session. Happens somewhat infrequently, maybe once a week (approximately 1 / 10 boots?). This issue has persisted for me across multiple clean OS reinstalls on the same hardware, first with OpenSUSE and now with Debian. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Configure the display arrangement, primary display setting, scaling etc. in System Settings -> Display and Monitor -> Display Configuration. OBSERVED RESULT The settings are sometimes lost (reverted to default) after a reboot and need to be configured again. EXPECTED RESULT The settings are permanently saved and reconfiguration is not needed, unless there is a hardware change or something that would render the saved settings unusable.
