SUMMARY

Hi,
I just updated Digikam to the 8.2.0 version and since I had a message about moving my database I ignored it, then I had a lot of hangs when using Digikam (it stopped responding regularly for some seconds), and then :

I can't add names to detected faces. As soon I type the first letter in the field "Who is it", Digikam crashes.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Search for faces
2. Recognize faces
3. Display faces or move the cursor on a face to display the frame
4. Click on the field "Who is it"
5. Type a letter on the keyboard

OBSERVED RESULT
Digikam crashes without an error message (the window is closed)

EXPECTED RESULT
Type the name and confirm

Windows: 10

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
If a person has been detected by the recognize tool and I just click on Confirm, Digikam doesn't crash.

Fixed in 8.3.0 with bug 477871

Hi,
It's great to know it is fixed in the 8.3.0 version. Thanks :)
What should I do for now? Downgrade Digikam, wait for the official 8.3.0 version, or install a pre-version with the fix included?

You have to wait a little, the current version from today won't start due to the missing Marble widget library.

On the other hand, I still have Digikam not responding regularly (at least once a minute). Are you aware of the problem?

A lots of time latency....

Here no but some people seen this kind of dysfunctions at startup. See this report for ex:

We suspect a mix of redistributable dlls from Windows already installed on the client computer. It's not simple to identify. Windows is really a mess as application target.

For me, the startup works well but it's in use that I have the problems. I will follow the bug you linked to me, thank you.
