STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Prerequisites
. Windows Display Language: German
. Windows prefered Languages: Englisch, German
 
1. Configure Language
. Primary Language: English (UK)
. no Fallback Language
2. restart App
3. Help -> About DigiKam

OBSERVED RESULT

Button  is labeled 'Schließen'

EXPECTED RESULT

Button is labeled 'close'

Windows: Windows 10 Version 2009 (x86_64)

Please try with last stable just released 8.2.0:

Tested with the official digiKam-8.2.0 (Windows) version, button language is ok.
