I use Raspberry Pi 5 with 8GB RAM. KDE Plasma crashes after then I login using SDDM. I use Wayland. This occurs after then I install applications using Discover app then reboot. My operating system is Raspberry Pi OS 64 Bit and I installed KDE using instructions on https://linuxhint.com/install-kde-plasma-raspberry-pi/ I was able to fix some of my plasma crashes by returning from Wayland back to X11. I also removed everything relating to Akonadai as this also had various crashes. I hope this helps you. I was able to fix some of my plasma crashes by returning from Wayland back to X11. Returning back to X11 solves the problem, but I want to use Wayland. My Raspberry Pi can't open KDE Plasma in Wayland anymore, but if I reload KDE Plasma Desktop on a new Raspberry Pi OS setup, it will not crash anymore until I install some apps. A few days ago, the problem occurred a few times, then I turned off my Raspberry Pi, next day the problem disappeared, but after then installing some apps, this problem occurred again. I also experienced intermittent crashes and rays of hope with KDE but in the end I am on running Wayland on Gnome and I have not had any issues. I also recently read that Wayland is not %100 ready for most desktop versions. Gnome also seems to be much better for Raspberrypi (In reply to Darren from comment #7) > I also removed everything relating to Akonadai as this also had > various crashes. I also removed all the packages contain akonadi in the package names, but nothing changed. Gnome also seems to be much better for Raspberrypi I like KDE much more than GNOME. I use KDE everywhere but I can't use KDE on my Raspberry Pi because of this bug. It is very sad. I also liked KDE for many years but bugs have forced me to try Gnome, which is very successful on RaspberryPi so far. If you are inclined, please reply further to this bug to update me on your progress. I also faced the same problem with Kubuntu on my Mac Pro 2013 (Black Cylinder) that is installed natively without any virtualization layer. I noticed that the problem is not related to Raspberry Pi or its OS called Raspberry Pi OS. After then reinstalling Kubuntu, I updated the system using "sudo apt update"; "sudo apt upgrade" and "sudo apt dist-upgrade" commands, and never faced the same problem. However, when I update the system using Discover app, I face this problem immediately. I haven't reinstalled Kubuntu on my Mac Pro 2013 yet, but I continue to use it on KDE Plasma xorg mode. When I choose KDE Plasma Wayland mode, the problem occurs on this state of both Mac Pro 2013 and Raspberry Pi 5. I will keep kubuntu in mind myself, thank you. Possibly related, given the crash happened when switching between displays on Wayland https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=419741 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=488701 Created attachment 173472 [details]
