Do *any* apps from distro repos show up on that page?
Comment 2 Patrick Silva 2023-11-30 18:02:28 UTC
yes, these and a few other apps from Arch repos show up:

chromium browser
vlc player

For me no PackageKit apps show up on the installed page. :(
Comment 4 Harald Sitter 2024-03-25 11:24:27 UTC
I am not sure how actionable this is. There are various levels of filtering going on there (some of which sits in the packagekit backend even). On neon the list seems fairly complete.
Comment 5 Nate Graham 2024-04-01 18:05:19 UTC
Is there a way to see what's being filtered at the PackageKit level?
Comment 6 Harald Sitter 2024-04-01 18:09:56 UTC
Don't think so. Depends on the backend specifically. I now I've seen at least one backend filtering out packagekit itself e.g.
Comment 7 Nate Graham 2024-04-08 17:05:10 UTC
I'm confused here because this wasn't happening in the Plasma 5 version of Discover. Since it's new to Plasma 6's Discover, I don't understand why it would be caused by an underlying PackageKit problem, unless that problem happened to be introduced with the Qt6 port ot PackageKit-Qt.
Comment 8 Harald Sitter 2024-04-09 05:42:26 UTC
The problem hasn't really been identified.

Patrick has a problem on Arch, which advises against using discover anyway and is poorly supported by packagekit.

You have a general problem with listing which sounds different?

Meanwhile everything seems to work fine on neon. Making me think it's either the backends or the specific setups you two have.

What action do I take here?
Comment 9 Nate Graham 2024-04-09 20:11:19 UTC
Well, we can go back to Patrick's original bug and ignore my attempted hijacking of it for a potentially different issue, and see if a fix for that fixes my issue.

Yes, Arch maintainers don't like PackageKit, but Discover does support using it on Arch. So unless we're going to declare this use case unmaintained or out of scope, I think bug reports about it are valid.

Fixed by Harald Sitter with https://invent.kde.org/plasma/discover/-/commit/b971ab0d352114b597978b6b24ad8c31bdf76e0b for Plasma 6.1. It may end up backported too.
