STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. start face detection
2. wait as long as you want
3. press the cancel button right of the progress bar

OBSERVED RESULT
There is no progress visible, the bar remains on 0%. When pressing the cancel button, nothing happens: the task won't be canceled, I have to kill the digikam process hard to continue work.

EXPECTED RESULT
There should be some progress visible, the cancel button should really cancel the action

Can you please test whether the problem also occurs with the digiKam-8.2.0 version, which was now created with the Microsoft compiler?

Thanks, with 8.2.0 it seems to work: the progress bar is now around 3% and the cancel button works as well. Great, thanks a lot!
