I feel like whatever keeps crashing dolphin is also what causes startplasma-x11 to hang and segfault too. I thought it was something in ~/.local/share, but nothing in the debugging output so far even so much as hints to what it is...

The crash can be reproduced sometimes.

Would you be able to get backtraces with debug symbols? You can just click install debug symbols in Dr. Konqi. Or see https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports
