STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1.  I have a dropbox camera upload folder with around 80k images
2.  I create a new library and try to import the dropbox camera upload folder 
3.  it load for hours, then it crash, when I re-open digikam, it will scan for new files, it stop at 99% for a few seconds then it crash.
4. when I remove the avif file from the folder, the digikam can start

This problem must be fixed with current 8.2.0 pre-release installer available here :

I just tested with a collection of AVIF taken from 

https://aomediacodec.github.io/av1-avif/testFiles/Link-U/

... and all work as expected with 8.2.0. The proof :
