Description kde.propeller937 2023-11-28 00:35:26 UTC
When typing in any kind of text box in a chromium/electon based application, the last few typed characters typed in will sometimes dissapear and reappear inconsistently on an nvidia gpu.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open any kind of chromium based application (Ex. the thorium browser).
2. Type in a text box.

OBSERVED RESULT
The last few characters sometimes flicker when typing.

EXPECTED RESULT
The flickering shouldn't be happening.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux: 6.6
KDE Plasma Version: 5.7.9
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.112
Qt Version: 5.15.11

This happens on a 30 series nvidia gpu using version 545.29 of the proprietary drivers.

I'm afraid the problem is in the proprietary NVIDIA drivers. We've gotten a lot of bug reports from people using the 545 drivers. Apparently they're quite buggy.

So please report this issue to the NVIDIA folks, either by sending an email to linux-bugs@nvidia.com or making a post at https://forums.developer.nvidia.com/c/gpu-graphics/linux. It would be helpful to the NVIDIA developers if you could run nvidia-bug-report.sh and attach the resulting file in your report. Thanks!
