Sentry Crash Report:

Description Puspam Adak 2023-11-21 18:44:41 UTC
There are a few ways to forcefully turn off the screen, such as the "Turn Off Screen" shortcut and `xdg-screensaver activate` command. Each of them does turn the screen off, but the screen also gets locked, even if automatic screen locking is disabled in system settings.
This gets very annoying because the password needs to be typed every time I want to turn off the screen. I remember this didn't happen in the previous version of kscreenlocker.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set a shortcut for "Turn Off Screen" or run the command `xdg-screensaver activate` .
2. Invoke the shortcut.

OBSERVED RESULT
The screen gets locked alongside turning off.

EXPECTED RESULT
Screen should not lock after turning off, if automatic screen locking is disabled.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux: 6.1.62-1-lts
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.9
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.112.0
Qt Version: 5.15.11

We don't have any control over what `xdg-screensaver activate` does, so let's keep this bug report about what the Turn Off Screen shortcut does. When I assign a key to it in Plasma 6 and activate the shortcut, my screens turn off but the system does not lock. This is what's expected. You say that when you do the same thing, the screen also locks?

Do you by any chance have any customizations or modifications that could help explain this?

Yes, the screen locks as well in my case. It started to happen after an update in the month of October 2023. Prior to that, the screen was not locking.

Cannot remember any special configuration I did apart from changing the themes & customizing plasmoids.
The config file of kscreenlocker (~/.config/kscreenlockerrc) may help you:
> [$Version]
> update_info=kscreenlocker.upd:0.1-autolock
>
> [Daemon]
> Autolock=false
> LockOnResume=false

I'm sorry it's been so long since your last message. I'm not able to reproduce this on git-master of Plasma 6.3.2.

Are you still having this problem with Plasma 6.3.2? If so, please change this back to REPORTED. Thanks.
